Since launching our mobile veterinary nonprofit clinic on October 5th 2022, we’ve seen 1375 patients (844 dogs, 531 cats), we’ve performed 730 spay and ether surgeries, 105 special procedure surgeries such as enucleations, cystotomies, splenectomies, limb and tail amputations, femoral head osteotomy, mass removals, mastectomies, perineal hernia repairs, inguinal hernia repairs, scrotal ablations for tumors), and 30 dentals. We are so proud of the work we’re doing and so passionate about serving the community and their pets. We want to thank Friends of Oakland Animal Services for inviting Vets in Vans to their Pawparazzi Gala Event to fundraise for the animals of Oakland Animal Services. Dr. Tracy Huang and Dr. Lauren Park are both former shelter veterinarians at Oakland Animal Services and know how much the animals at the shelter need help. The city has cut the budget for the city shelter, so they need desperately need donations to care for and continue to adopt out the animals at Oakland Animal Services. Vets in Vans is partnered with Friends of Oakland Animal Services through their PetFix program. This program gives vouchers that covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, and microchip for community members in Oakland who need financial support. Vets in Vans provides the surgical and medical services for Petfix clients. Since partnering in January 2023, we’ve spayed and neutered 232 animals through their PetFix program. That’s 232 animals we prevented from having unplanned litters that can potentially end up in the shelter system!
