Arthur Mitchell’s testimony with his dog, Ma Jesty. She’s a 1 YO Belgian Malinois who developed severe abscesses along her neck and chest which caused necrosis of her skin. Arthur recently lost his job and thought he would have to surrender Ma Jesty to the shelter because he was unable to afford care. He was very emotional about having to possibly give her up and so thankful that we were able to help. Ma Jesty’s journey with us is not over, but we’re treating her the best we can with the help of Arthur. Their bond is so strong and we’re so happy we can keep her in her home ❤️. Thank you for your kind words, Arthur. #veterinarian #veterinarysocialwork #veterinarianlife #veterinariansofinstagram #bipocbusiness

Our Baja spay neuter trip ❤️ Thank you @bajaspayneuter for hosting us and being so wonderful and welcoming. We spay and neutered 200 animals together! These animals also received flea/tick preventatives and much needed vaccines. We loved the work we did together and would love to go back! #veterinarian #internationalspayneuternetwork #bajacalifornia #veterinarianlife #veterinariansofinstagram #bipocbusiness #spayandneuter

Dr. Tracy Huang performed a spay on a dog that had dystocia with the help of Dr. Julia Rau. This two year old bully had gone into labor and the puppy was stuck in the vaginal canal. The puppy sadly did not make it and mom’s life was at risk. She was not going to make it overnight. Our staff stayed late to help her as she was transported from the ER clinic. Mom recovered very well and we saved her life with the support of our amazing staff and our veterinary extern, Dr. Julia Rau. Vets in Vans has a joint veterinary student externship program with Alameda Animal Shelter. Fourth year veterinary students can choose to have a 2-4 week externship rotating through Alameda Animal Shelter and Vets in Vans learning about shelter medicine, community outreach medicine, and field medicine. If you’re a fourth year veterinary student interested in the externship program, we would love to host you!

Jinx is a beautiful 14 year old senior gal who had developed very large lipomas that was impeding her mobility. She was having a hard time getting around because they restricted her movements and they were so heavy. Her owners love her very much and they were concerned about her quality of life. They drove all the way from South Bay to see us. We removed her two very large lipomas and she was able to walk well again! Her owners were so happy they cried. They were so happy to see her better and were very appreciative of our help. Good luck sweet Jinx! ❤️ #dogsofinstagram #dogstagram #seniordog #seniordogsofinstagram #lipoma #veterinarysocialwork #veterinarian #veterinariansofinstagram #veterinarianlife #nonprofit #womeninbusiness
